The Merry House Inn

We stayed in the Bridal room the weekend of our wedding. It was PERFECT! The hosts were so accommodating, and allowed us to take our wedding party photos on their property which was a blessing because it was raining so bad on our special day we couldn't take photos outside. Their property is so pretty and filled with natural lighting that our photographer was able to take amazing shots. Additionally, the hosts were quick to respond to anything we needed, fed us delicious breakfast, and cared for our safety. There was flash flooding in the area and they contacted us to move our vehicles to a safer location. I highly recommend The Merry House Inn and look forward to booking again.

I stayed at the lovely Merry House Inn the last week of March. It was my 2nd visit in 6 months and I plan to go back again! You should add this location to the top of your list of places to stay. Jennifer and Justin are gracious hosts and make you feel right at home. Their guest rooms and facilities are super clean and comfortable!! As a guest in someone else's home, I think it is our responsibility and a common courtesy to also be neat and clean so the owners continue to welcome us back. I seldom write reviews, but you need to know The Merry House Inn is a fantastic home away from home! The location is across the street from the Katy Trail and convenient to all the local wineries. Have fun exploring Defiance and Augusta! Be sure to tell Jennifer and Justin "Dee sent you!" (Ha! Ha! I promise I'm not being compensated. Just being silly and thought I would give J & J a laugh if you greeted them this way. We all need a good laugh every so often.)

Jennifer and Justin were absolutely wonderful. We picked this place because it is conveniently located near a lot of the local wineries. Jennifer informed me that when the trollies are up and running again (I believe from March through November) that they will be within a short walk from one of the trolley stops. The house and rooms are updated and spacious. We had Suite 2 which included a nice walk-in shower, double vanity, king-size bed, stocked mini-fridge with water, a personal coffee bar (including a Keurig), and gas fireplace. One extra touch that I really enjoyed was that they included breakfast the next morning, which was fantastic. Jennifer made biscuits and gravy that were to die for, eggs, and fresh fruit. My wife and I are already talking about when we might want to go back.

We stayed here this past weekend and it was very comfortable. The linens all smelled very fresh, the jacuzzi jets were powerful, and the communication was good. Ms. Sharon provided a lovely and freshly cooked breakfast of eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, and pancakes on Saturday, and eggs and biscuits and gravy on Sunday. She even made the food early for me on Saturday due to my needing to be somewhere. It was exactly what we needed.

What an incredibly special stay we had at the most beautiful Merry House Inn! Jennifer & Justin could not have been more gracious hosts!!! We were welcomed off our bike ride on the KATY Trail with a beverage and an invitation to join J & J’s family on their wonderful deck to watch Monday Night Football. Jennifer gave us a full tour of the entire Inn which was perfectly decorated and had the most comfortable beds in gorgeous suites with fireplaces and all the extras in each room like coffee, bottled water, reading material, TV, robes, etc. While we knew a hot breakfast would not be served on weekdays, the ‘continental’ breakfast Jennifer had waiting for us was GREAT!!! We had 4 dishes of fresh berries, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, danish, yogurt, boiled eggs, orange juice & coffee, all served at a beautifully set table in their cozy lower level space overlooking their bright red barn & property. Absolutely perfect stay!!!!! Only thing better would be if we could have stayed longer! THANK YOU!!!

Jen, the owner, was absolutely wonderful to deal with... The breakfast was very nice, I will add strong coffee though so if you not a fan of strong coffee like I am mention to make it a little bit weaker. A very nice lady, by the name of Sharon, made us breakfast on Sunday and her French toast was totally out of this world. Jen's daughter, Aubrey, was there to meet us when we had a very late arrival Friday. She is just the sweetest person! It was fun just to get away because we were there celebrating some friends 50th wedding anniversary.

My husband and I just Celebrated our 37th Wedding Anniversary here. This place is Beautiful, quiet and Awesome location. Plenty of Wineries to visit and not to far from the city to drive in to eat or activities. The Honeymoon suite was everything we wanted, the room is a very large room, fireplace, Hot tub and a very comfortable King size bed. Breakfast was very good through the week but the Breakfast on Saturday morning was so delicious. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon. We enjoyed our wine sitting out on the patio. Keep doing what you’re doing, you have a Beautiful home.
